My name is Ben and I am a junior at Purdue University majoring in Animation and Data Visualization. I have a passion for animation and have been working with graphic design and animation tools since high school. Through real world experience and projects, I hope to leverage my skills for use in industries like healthcare, games, social media, marketing, etc. Some of the tools that I am strongly skilled in are Autodesk Maya and Adobe After Effects for Animation, Tableau/Paraview/Adobe Illustrator for Data Visualization, and Adobe Photoshop for Graphic Design.
I recently interned with Equine Welfare Data Collective (EWDC) as a Data Visualization developer. My primary function was to analyze the data and provide insights, identify trends and create visual representations of complex data sets, as illustrations in the annual report on the state of equine welfare in the country. I also gained valuable experience in communication by directly calling prospective organizations and persuading them to participate in the surveys. This involved communicating the need for this initiative as well as the benefits to them from participating in the study. I am also currently working as a Graphic Designer for my local church where I design and create various media work for the pamphlets, billboard displays, website, and social media. I have been working in this position for a little over a year and have expanded my knowledge in terms of creativity and understanding of how best to draw the attention of the audience and make compelling presentations. |
